About the Doctor:
Dr. Nelson moved to the Valley of the Sun to be closer to his family who were attending Arizona State University. His approach to dentistry has evolved in the last few years emphasizing his skills in both removable and fixed full-mouth reconstruction that includes the use of surgery and placement of dental implants to improve the function of people who are missing teeth or losing teeth.
It has been a new chapter in his life since the first half of his career when he was focused on crown and bridge and preventive care to patients. Over the past decade, his focus has been on comprehensive dentistry including full mouth reconstruction and fixed implant retained restorations.
Education & License:
Dr. Nelson completed his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University and went on to graduate dental school in 1982 from the University of Southern California – Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. Dr. Nelson I have been placing implants since about 1998 starting with a mini residency at Nobel Biocare in Yorba Linda, California. Ironically, I was blessed that my first three instructors have contributed and are current active leaders in implant dentistry:
- Jack Hahn-recently received lifetime achievement award from American Academy of Implant Dentistry
- Dennis Smiler-Actively involved teaching Zygomatic and Pterygoid implants, and works as director at Noris Implants
- Craig Misch-Current clinical director for International Congress of Oral Implantology
